Spooky October Melbourne is an independent guide to Halloween in Melbourne. We cover haunted house formats, family activities, costume ideas and the city's trick-or-treat traditions, and we keep a plain record of Spooktober, the Halloween festival that used to run in St Kilda each October.
We are not the organiser of Spooktober and we have no connection to whoever ran the festival in past years. This site does not sell tickets, book venues or recruit scare actors. Where we describe former attractions from the festival's programme, we are writing about history, not advertising something you can attend today.
Our pages on haunted houses and festival activities look at formats you will find at Halloween events generally, using what Melbourne has hosted before as a starting point rather than a current listing. The history of the Spooktober festival and our wider festival guide work the same way: background and context, assembled independently and corrected where we get something wrong.
